mongboot Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Hope some one can help, I have a 2001 2.3 petrol galaxy and its a pain in the butt.Since I have had it it has always felt like its dragging not struggling engine sounds lovely just feels like being pulled back, quite hard to explain, if going down a hill and lift foot off gas its like I've put breaks on, (not usual engine break) it free wheels fine down a hill(naughty i know but figured that would tell me if its the breaks)my dad had done the brakes and it did its mot fab. Any ideas? Been told it could be the flexi hoses? R the servo pump (no idea what that is) Quote
seatkid Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 On level ground, jack the rear wheels up (one at a time) - after chocking the remaining wheels and putting the engine in gear (engine off) to secure the car, release the handbrake and chjeck the rear wheel(s) rotate freely. If not then check the handbrake lever on the caliper is back at the end stop - they often dont go all the way back because of internal corrosion in the caliper or rusted up rear brake cables. another possibilty are seized up slide pins on the caliper that keep one pad on (the outer). Seized slide pins can also affect front brakes. Quote
chromedome Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Check the symptoms with the a/c on and off. I had this on a Mondeo once, felt like someone just hitched a caravan on the back. Quote
